    HOW ARE FINDGOD GARMENTS MADE?

We are often asked about our design and manufacturing processes. In this blog, we break down how we turn an idea in our heads into a final finished collection for the world to enjoy.

Step 1 - Designing the Collection.

This step is the most time consuming. It takes months of prayer and designing to come up with a collection we are proud to release.

Most of our inspiration comes from the Bible. Often verses will jump out at us as we are spending time with the Lord. We note these down to use when designing new collections.

From a creative perspective, we draw inspiration from everything we can. Pinterest, album covers and magazines but also things like billboards or street signs. The key is finding inspiration while going about your daily life. Your best ideas will come when you least expect them!

When it comes time to designing, we draw from all of these forms of inspiration. Sometimes the ideas flow and sometimes its a real struggle. Many times it take over 100 iterations to get something even remotely worth using. This takes time sitting with the Lord, trusting that he will guide the process.

Once we’ve created something we like, we sit on it for at least a couple days. This allows us to see the collection with fresh eyes and seek the opinions of friends and colleagues.

When we are happy and feel like the Lord is with us on the collection, we move on to step 2.

    Step 2 - Quotation.

Here we submit our designs and spec sheets to our manufacturer to get a quote. This will include the per unit cost of production and any other additional set up and shipping costs. This stage is crucial especially in this economy where costs are constantly changing. We check over these numbers to make sure they will work for our needs as well as the needs of our manufacturer.

If everything is in order we will proceed with the order.

Step 3 - Production of the Garments.

The first step in this part of the process is ordering the blank garments and removing the neck tags. This happens before the garments arrive at our screen printers.

Once the garments have arrived with the screen printer, new FINDGOD neck labels are pressed in and our graphics are screen printed. They are then heat cured to prevent cracking of the print. The whole process can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks depending on supply chain pressures.

Currently we are producing our garments in New Zealand. This gives us complete control over the manufacturing process and has allowed us to build deep valued relationships with our suppliers. We are still using the first screen printer Henry ever used all the way back in 2018.

Once the garments are finished they are shipped to our headquarters for step 4.

Step 4 - Folding and Bagging.

This is the final step in the manufacturing process.

Folding and bagging is done in house, by our team. This means we can do final quality checks on all of the garments and package them in our signature FINDGOD bags.

This step can take anywhere from 2-12 hours depending on how many garments we have to package. We love this process as it gives us a chance to reflect on how good God is and how far he’s taken us.

Step 5 - Ready for Sale.

The finished, folded and packaged garments are then stored in our offices ready to be shipped out as soon as an order is placed.

While our processes are not perfect, we are making changes daily to optimise everything we do. We believe our customers deserve the best and we won't stop until we've achieved that. We do this with the attitude of Colossians 3:23:

"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men."

    God bless!

    Henry and Caleb
