At FINDGOD, we always marvel at how God continues to bless us with opportunities we once could only dream of. All glory to Him!
One year in, we have only just scraped the surface, but have already learnt so much. Something we continuously ask is, ‘How do we balance FINDGOD as a business and ministry?’ We’d love to share our thoughts with you…
WHO WE SERVE…
Colossians 3:23-24 is massively important in this discussion:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Everyday, we come back to this truth. The Lord asks us to work with ‘all our heart’ not for our own gain but for the glory of the Lord Christ. This truth applies not just here at FINDGOD, but for all of us. Whether working in secular business or directly in ministry, it is always Christ we are serving.
THE BIGGEST LESSON…
One of the most profound lessons we've learnt is the importance of trust in God's timing. It's easy to rush - especially in the ‘hustle’ culture we’re surrounded by… but every time we choose to wait on the Lord’s plans (however challenging it may be) we are reminded that what He has for us is far superior to our own plans.
Zechariah 4:6 encapsulates this perfectly: "Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit."
No matter how hard we try, or how convinced we are of our own knowledge - His way, led by His Spirit, is always better. It’s a humbling truth.
SALT AND LIGHT OF THE WORLD…
Jesus said we are the salt and light of the world… In Matthew 5:14-16 he said, “A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
God has called us to live this out not only on a personal level, but through the practices of FINDGOD. All our actions should be held accountable to the Word of God - from the formation of the garments, to the moment it lands in our customers’ hands.
Something God is always calling us to, at FINDGOD, is a commitment to generosity. As a business, this can be challenging, but once again, we have found that it’s in obedience to God’s commands that we grow, succeed, and thrive.
WHAT HAS HELPED US…
One the best decisions we’ve made was to have a prayer team - a group of dedicated individuals who pray for FINDGOD, listen to where God is leading us next, and hold us accountable to Scripture. Highly recommend! This may look like joining a life group or finding a mentor who will do the same for you.
SO, TO CONCLUDE...
We're eager to follow God’s plan for this business, even when the path isn't yet fully revealed, and even when it’s difficult! In the end, this balancing act of business and ministry is about listening, repenting, growing, and of course, glorifying the Lord. It's about trusting in God's perfect timing.
